BlueCherry PLM

BlueCherry PLM is a cloud product lifecycle management system from CGS for apparel, footwear and lifestyle brands, part of the BlueCherry suite that also includes ERP, MES and B2B commerce.

Overview

CGS, a New York based business applications and services company operating for more than 40 years, develops the BlueCherry suite for consumer lifestyle, apparel and retail companies. BlueCherry PLM, also marketed as BlueCherry Next PLM, is cloud-native and runs in any browser. It covers design, digital asset management, BOMs, tech packs, costing scenarios and margin analysis, sourcing through RFQs and sample and purchase order management, vendor scorecards, factory audits and a Compliance and CSR module that includes CPSIA tracking.

The main differentiator is suite integration. BlueCherry PLM shares data with BlueCherry ERP, B2B wholesale commerce, warehouse management, shop floor control and AI-based planning, so a brand can run development, sourcing, wholesale and distribution on one vendor's applications. For other environments CGS offers pre-built ERP integrations and open APIs. An Adobe plug-in lets designers add product data, images and artwork without a separate login, and the platform integrates with 3D design and material tools. CGS describes the product as AI-powered, without detailed public documentation of specific AI functions.

IDC named CGS a Leader in its 2024 MarketScape for worldwide retail, footwear and apparel PLM. Typical customers are mid-sized and larger North American apparel and lifestyle brands, such as Eberjey and Secret Charm, that want PLM and ERP from a single supplier.

Best fit

Apparel, footwear and lifestyle brands, particularly in North America, that want PLM integrated with ERP, wholesale and warehouse applications from one vendor.

Presence in Europe

CGS operates offices in Europe as part of a footprint across five regions, while BlueCherry's published customer references are mainly in North America.

Strengths

  • Tight integration with the BlueCherry ERP, B2B, warehouse and shop floor applications.
  • Strong sourcing, costing and vendor compliance functions, including CPSIA tracking.
  • Adobe plug-in and 3D tool integrations for design teams.
  • Recognised as a Leader in the IDC MarketScape for retail, footwear and apparel PLM 2024.

Considerations

  • The strongest value case assumes adoption of the wider BlueCherry suite, which increases single-vendor dependency.
  • Specific AI functionality in the PLM product is not documented in detail publicly and should be demonstrated.
  • European references are less visible than North American ones, so EU regulatory content and local support should be verified.
